RECEPTION
The "Peace Fountain" sculpture was dedicated on May 18, 1985 at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. It is dedicated to children and their freedom to creatively live their lives to the fullest.
The sculpture tells of the victory of the forces of good over those of evil, and is encircled by New York City's first children's sculpture garden.
Each year, over a ten year period, an open contest will afford children the opportunity to create miniature sculptures of animals which symbolize freedom. A distinguished panel of independent judges will choose a selection for permanent placement at the "Peace Fountain." When completed, New York City's first children's sculpture garden will have 120 bronze "Animals of Freedom."
